About this role:

The Senior Applications Developer provides input and support for, and performs full systems life cycle management activities (e.g., analyses, technical requirements, design, coding, testing, implementation of systems and applications software, etc.).  He/She participates in component and data architecture design, technology planning, and testing for Applications Development (AD) initiatives to meet business requirements. This position provides input to applications development project plans and integrations.  He/She collaborates with teams and supports emerging technologies to ensure effective communication and achievement of objectives. This position provides knowledge and support for applications development, integration, and maintenance. He/She provides input to department and project teams on decisions supporting projects.

The Sr. Applications Developer will be working as a developer with an Operations Research team to assist and support OR research goals for UPS.  Developers within Operations Research analyze, design, codes, test, and correct moderately to highly complex programs to develop optimization tools and heuristics and to ensure optimal performance and compliance. He/She confers with other groups (e.g., Industrial Engineering, Information Systems (IS), Transportation, universities, etc.) to identify issues. This position also participates in the gathering and developing of needed data sources.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience with Agile Development, .NET, C# .NET, OO Analysis & Design, Java Programming and/or C++, Linux

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of programming experience

  • Candidate should be interested in research, prototyping and development of algorithms and heuristics

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, and or equivalent is required.
